Air conditioner

CFD analysis of Air conditioner

We have done CFD analysis of 3.5 Tonne Air conditioner placed at the top of the room to analyze and optimize the ventilation system of a room. Our main agenda in this was to just perform how the flow is taking place in the entire room and what are the area of effective cooling in the room.

Research Contribution

The movements of airflow due to the free and forced convection, the flow pattern and streamlines can be observed in streamline contour. Initially when the simulation was started it is noted that the hot air travels upward due to decrease in density so called buoyancy effects. However, the hot airs which moves upwards falls down due to decrease in temperature. This process has been continuing till the entire room has been cooled at same pressure and temperature level.

Work Performed

Some of the targeted goals we have achieved are as follows:

• Optimizing air movement in enclosed spaces by eliminating air recirculation zones.

• Energy savings through more efficient heating and/or cooling.

• Reducing the spread of bacteria by eliminating airborne bacteria through effective ventilation.

• Improving the level of thermal comfort for the employees and other staffs.

• Fast temperature regulation without large fluctuations.

The advantages and benefits of CFD have made it a very popular tool for the ventilation of confined spaces such as offices, industries, hospital rooms etc.
